CHECK THESE 5 FLUIDS IN THE SPRING FOR THE BEST VEHICLE PERFORMANCE

Spring cleaning is not just for your home. Once the weather starts to warm up, your vehicle needs a little extra TLC too.

In the spring, you should be checking, and – if needed – changing these five important fluids for optimal vehicle performance:
  • Freon/Refrigerant

In the spring, temperatures start to rise, so it is safe to say that you will, at some point, switch from using the heat to using the AC. You will want to make sure your vehicle’s air conditioning system is up to the task. So, now is the perfect time to have our automotive specialists check your freon or refrigerant levels.

  • Radiator Fluid

Like refrigerant/freon helps to keep you from overheating when the temperatures rise, radiator fluid keeps your vehicle’s engine from overheating. If you are low on this vital fluid, you risk finding yourself stranded on the side of the road.

You should check your owner’s manual for recommendations specific to your vehicle on how often you should change the radiator fluid. A radiator flush and refill are important to cooling system maintenance. The fresh fluid keeps the engine running cooler, and a flush helps to remove unwanted dirt and debris that can damage expensive cooling system parts.

  • Transmission Fluid

Transmission fluid is vital to the smooth performance of your vehicle. It acts as a hydraulic and an oil, helping to lubricate moving parts, keeping the transmission cool, and facilitating gear shifts. All of which are vital vehicle functions. Ignoring this fluid results in slipping gears, squealing or grinding while shifting, and trouble shifting.  Transmission fluid change and flush intervals are specific to each different vehicle make and model. These intervals are often laid out in your owner’s manual. You should never put off transmission fluid maintenance, to do so could result in expensive vehicle damage down the road.

  • Motor Oil

Regular oil changes are crucial to the longevity of your vehicle. As temperatures and driving conditions change, changing the oil can be especially important. Check the oil for cleanliness, and if it is low, top it off. If you have reached the interval set in your vehicle owner’s manual, schedule an appointment with us today. With the pollen and dust that comes with spring in the air, it is good to start with fresh clean oil and oil filters.

  • Windshield Wiper Fluid

Spring brings with it bugs, rain, and birds in flight, all of which can pepper your windshield with view-blocking dirt and debris. Windshield wiper fluid can assist you in removing these problems, making it easier for you to see while you drive, until you can get somewhere you can thoroughly clean your windshield.
